I have kids that are hard core mountain bikers. Laura that service manager was great to work with. Was able to do the front fork work and had a great eye on other safety issues that I asked her about. The staff is great and so is the bike shop I will be using from now on.
I stopped by Proteus Bicycles to see if they could help me figure out a problem I had with my Bike Friday. Ben (I hope I remember the name correctly), was upfront in letting me know he wasn't as familiar with the brand. However, he kept trying different things to see if he could figure out the problem anyway. His meticulous inspection and obvious knowledge of bicycle mechanics paid off and we figured it out. He didn't even charge me for the adjustment or his time. I still have to upgrade some componentry but at least for now the bicycle is operable until I upgrade. Many thanks! Greatly appreciate it!
I always have a positive experience at Proteus Bikes. I have purchased bikes, accessories, apparel, and repairs and maintenance. They provide the optimal customer service experience in a family oriented and community based atmosphere.
(I can't resist. There is another review where a person buys a cheap Internet deal then attempts to haggle down the assembly price at a full service shop. Shops are burdened with overhead and provide a warranty with their labor. They have very little wiggle room as compared to giants like Internet sales. The assembly is what incurs the Workman's comp, health insurance and labor charges. Shops charge what they charge only because they have to. I'm certain the reviewer would understand if he know the behind the scenes challenges).
It is always a pleasure to visit the shop. Half the time I stop in for questions - there is no pressure to buy anything. I sometimes think they simply like the company of visitors. They make everyone feel at home.
I was happy to see Proteus taking part in a couple events in the neighborhood. I understand that weekends for bikes shops are very very very important, however Proteus continues to send mechanics to support rides, farmer's markets, and school activities.
Proteus is AMAZING!!!! I came in to have my back wheel replaced, and was really having a bad day when I brought my bike in. Paul helped take care of my bike, and he was so amazing and helpful. He heard I was having a bad day, and brought over the shop's cat named Colonel Sprocket. That cat is super friendly, and that instantly changed my mood. Not only that, Paul was really sweet and helped me through the whole experience with ease. I ended up getting a new seat, new helmet and some new locks. I love all the new additions to my bike so much. It rides like new. It has really changed my life having my bike again, and I cannot thank Paul or Proteus enough.
